ܐܢܝܚܘ ܗܟܝܠ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܟܠܗ ܒܝܫܘܬܐ ܘܟܠܗ ܢܟܠܐ ܘܡܣܒ ܒܐܦܐ ܘܚܣܡܐ ܘܡܐܟܠ-ܩܪܨܐ
'nykhw hkyl mnkwn klh byshwth' wklh nkl' wmsb b'p' wkhsm' wm'kl-qrts'
Putting away therefore all wickedness, all deceit, hypocrisies, envies, and all evil speaking,

ܘܗܘܘ ܐܝܟ ܝܠܘܕܐ ܫܒܪܐ ܘܐܬܪܓܪܓܘ ܠܗ ܠܡܠܬܐ ܐܝܟ ܕܠܚܠܒܐ ܢܩܕܐ ܘܪܘܚܢܐ ܕܒܗ ܬܬܪܒܘܢ ܠܚܝܐ
whww 'yk ylwd' shbr' w'thrgrgw lh lmlth' 'yk dlkhlb' nqd' wrwkhn' dbh ththrbwn lkhy'
as newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the Word, that with it you may grow,

ܐܢ ܛܥܡܬܘܢ ܘܚܙܝܬܘܢ ܕܛܒ ܗܘ ܡܪܝܐ
'n Temthwn wkhzythwn dTb hw mry'
if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious:

ܗܘ ܕܠܗ ܡܬܩܪܒܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܟܐܦܐ ܚܝܐ ܕܐܣܠܝܘܗܝ ܒܢܝ ܐܢܫܐ ܘܓܒܐ ܘܡܝܩܪ ܠܘܬ ܐܠܗܐ
hw dlh mthqrbyn 'nthwn d'ythwhy k'p' khy' d'slywhy bny 'nsh' wgb' wmyqr lwth 'lh'
coming to him, a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God, precious.

ܘܐܦ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܟܐܦܐ ܚܝܬܐ ܐܬܒܢܘ ܘܗܘܘ ܗܝܟܠܐ ܪܘܚܢܐ ܘܟܗܢܐ ܩܕܝܫܐ ܠܡܣܩܘ ܕܒܚܐ ܪܘܚܢܐ ܕܡܩܒܠܝܢ ܩܕܡ ܐܠܗܐ ܒܝܕ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ
w'p 'nthwn 'yk k'p' khyth' 'thbnw whww hykl' rwkhn' wkhn' qdysh' lmsqw dbkh' rwkhn' dmqblyn qdm 'lh' byd yshwe mshykh'
You also, as living stones, are built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

ܐܡܝܪ ܗܘ ܓܝܪ ܒܟܬܒܐ ܕܗܐ ܣܐܡ ܐܢܐ ܒܨܗܝܘܢ ܟܐܦܐ ܒܚܝܪܬܐ ܘܝܩܝܪܬܐ ܒܪܝܫ ܙܘܝܬܐ ܘܡܢ ܕܡܗܝܡܢ ܒܗ ܠܐ ܢܒܗܬ
'myr hw gyr bkthb' dh' s'm 'n' btshywn k'p' bkhyrth' wyqyrth' brysh zwyth' wmn dmhymn bh l' nbhth
Because it is contained in Scripture,
“Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, chosen, and precious:
He who believes in him will not be disappointed.”

ܠܟܘܢ ܗܟܝܠ ܐܬܝܗܒ ܗܢܐ ܐܝܩܪܐ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܗܝܡܢܝܢ ܠܗܢܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܕܠܐ ܡܬܛܦܝܣܝܢ
lkwn hkyl 'thyhb hn' 'yqr' l'ylyn dmhymnyn lhnwn dyn dl' mthTpysyn
For you who believe therefore is the honor, but for those who are disobedient,
“The stone which the builders rejected,
has become the chief cornerstone,”

ܟܐܦܐ ܗܘ ܕܬܘܩܠܬܐ ܘܐܒܢܐ ܕܟܫܠܐ ܘܡܬܬܩܠܝܢ ܒܗ ܒܕܠܐ ܡܬܛܦܝܣܝܢ ܠܡܠܬܐ ܕܠܗܕܐ ܣܝܡܝܢ
k'p' hw dthwqlth' w'bn' dkshl' wmththqlyn bh bdl' mthTpysyn lmlth' dlhd' symyn
and,
“a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense.”
For they stumble at the word, being disobedient, to which also they were appointed.

ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܫܪܒܬܐ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܓܒܝܬܐ ܕܡܟܗܢܐ ܠܡܠܟܘܬܐ ܥܡܐ ܩܕܝܫܐ ܟܢܫܐ ܦܪܝܩܐ ܬܣܒܪܘܢ ܬܫܒܚܬܗ ܕܗܘ ܕܩܪܟܘܢ ܡܢ ܚܫܘܟܐ ܠܢܘܗܪܗ ܡܝܬܪܐ
'nthwn dyn shrbth' 'nthwn gbyth' dmkhn' lmlkwth' em' qdysh' knsh' pryq' thsbrwn thshbkhthh dhw dqrkwn mn khshwk' lnwhrh mythr'
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:

ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܢ ܩܕܝܡ ܠܐ ܚܫܝܒܝܢ ܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܥܡܐ ܗܫܐ ܕܝܢ ܥܡܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܐܦܠܐ ܪܚܡܐ ܐܝܬ ܗܘܘ ܥܠܝܟܘܢ ܗܫܐ ܕܝܢ ܐܫܬܦܥܘ ܥܠܝܟܘܢ ܪܚܡܐ
'ylyn dmn qdym l' khshybyn hwythwn em' hsh' dyn em' d'lh' 'pl' rkhm' 'yth hww elykwn hsh' dyn 'shthpew elykwn rkhm'
who in time past were no people, but now are God’s people, who had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

ܚܒܝܒܝ ܒܥܐ ܐܢܐ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܥܪܨܐ ܘܐܝܟ ܬܘܬܒܐ ܐܬܦܪܩܘ ܡܢ ܟܠܗܝܢ ܪܓܝܓܬܗ ܕܦܓܪܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܕܥܒܕܢ ܩܪܒܐ ܠܘܩܒܠ ܢܦܫܐ
khbyby be' 'n' mnkwn 'yk erts' w'yk thwthb' 'thprqw mn klhyn rgygthh dpgr' hlyn debdn qrb' lwqbl npsh'
Beloved, I beg you as foreigners and pilgrims, to abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

ܘܢܗܘܘܢ ܫܦܝܪܝܢ ܗܘܦܟܝܟܘܢ ܩܕܡ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܒܢܝ ܐܢܫܐ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܡܠܠܝܢ ܥܠܝܟܘܢ ܡܠܐ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܢܚܙܘܢ ܥܒܕܝܟܘܢ ܫܦܝܪܐ ܘܢܫܒܚܘܢ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܕܒܘܚܪܢܐ
wnhwwn shpyryn hwpkykwn qdm klhwn bny 'nsh' 'ylyn dmmllyn elykwn ml' byshth' nkhzwn ebdykwn shpyr' wnshbkhwn l'lh' bywm' dbwkhrn'
having good behavior among the nations, so in that of which they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they see, glorify God in the day of visitation.

ܘܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܡܫܬܥܒܕܝܢ ܠܟܠܗܘܢ ܒܢܝ ܐܢܫܐ ܡܛܠ ܐܠܗܐ ܠܡܠܟܐ ܡܛܠ ܫܘܠܛܢܗܘܢ
whwythwn mshthebdyn lklhwn bny 'nsh' mTl 'lh' lmlk' mTl shwlTnhwn
Therefore subject yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether to the king, as supreme;

ܘܠܕܝܢܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܡܢܗ ܡܫܬܕܪܝܢ ܠܬܒܥܬܐ ܕܡܣܟܠܢܐ ܘܠܬܫܒܘܚܬܐ ܕܥܒܕܝ ܛܒܬܐ
wldyn' mTl dmnh mshthdryn lthbeth' dmskln' wlthshbwkhth' debdy Tbth'
or to governors, as sent by him for vengeance on evildoers and for praise to those who do well.

ܕܗܟܢܐ ܗܘ ܨܒܝܢܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܕܒܥܒܕܝܟܘܢ ܫܦܝܪܐ ܬܣܟܪܘܢ ܦܘܡܐ ܕܣܟܠܐ ܗܢܘܢ ܕܠܐ ܝܕܥܝܢ ܠܐܠܗܐ
dhkn' hw tsbyn' d'lh' dbebdykwn shpyr' thskrwn pwm' dskl' hnwn dl' ydeyn l'lh'
For this is the will of God, that by well-doing you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:

ܐܝܟ ܒܢܝ ܚܐܪܐ ܘܠܐ ܐܝܟ ܐܢܫܐ ܕܥܒܝܕܐ ܠܗܘܢ ܚܐܪܘܬܗܘܢ ܬܚܦܝܬܐ ܠܒܝܫܘܬܗܘܢ ܐܠܐ ܐܝܟ ܥܒܕܘܗܝ ܕܐܠܗܐ
'yk bny kh'r' wl' 'yk 'nsh' debyd' lhwn kh'rwthhwn thkhpyth' lbyshwthhwn 'l' 'yk ebdwhy d'lh'
as free, and not using your freedom for a cloak of wickedness, but as bondservants of God.

ܠܟܠܢܫ ܝܩܪܘ ܠܐܚܝܟܘܢ ܐܚܒܘ ܘܡܢ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܚܠܘ ܘܠܡܠܟܐ ܝܩܪܘ
lklnsh yqrw l'khykwn 'khbw wmn 'lh' dkhlw wlmlk' yqrw
Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.

ܘܐܝܠܝܢ ܥܒܕܐ ܕܐܝܬ ܒܟܘܢ ܐܫܬܥܒܕܘ ܠܡܪܝܟܘܢ ܒܕܚܠܬܐ ܠܐ ܒܠܚܘܕ ܠܛܒܐ ܘܠܡܟܝܟܐ ܐܠܐ ܐܦ ܠܩܫܝܐ ܘܠܥܣܩܐ
w'ylyn ebd' d'yth bkwn 'shthebdw lmrykwn bdkhlth' l' blkhwd lTb' wlmkyk' 'l' 'p lqshy' wlesq'
Servants, be in subjection to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the wicked.

ܠܗܠܝܢ ܓܝܪ ܐܝܬ ܠܗܘܢ ܛܝܒܘܬܐ ܩܕܡ ܐܠܗܐ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܛܠ ܬܐܪܬܐ ܫܦܝܪܬܐ ܡܣܝܒܪܝܢ ܥܩܬܐ ܕܐܬܝܢ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܒܥܘܠܐ
lhlyn gyr 'yth lhwn Tybwth' qdm 'lh' l'ylyn dmTl th'rth' shpyrth' msybryn eqth' d'thyn elyhwn bewl'
For it is commendable if someone endures pain, suffering unjustly, because of conscience toward God.

ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܝܢ ܕܡܛܠ ܣܟܠܘܬܗܘܢ ܡܣܝܒܪܝܢ ܐܘܠܨܢܐ ܐܝܕܐ ܬܫܒܘܚܬܐ ܗܘܝܐ ܠܗܘܢ ܐܠܐ ܡܐ ܕܥܒܕܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܫܦܝܪ ܘܠܨܝܢ ܠܟܘܢ ܘܡܣܝܒܪܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܗܝܕܝܢ ܝܪܒܐ ܬܫܒܘܚܬܟܘܢ ܠܘܬ ܐܠܗܐ
'ylyn dyn dmTl sklwthhwn msybryn 'wltsn' 'yd' thshbwkhth' hwy' lhwn 'l' m' debdyn 'nthwn dshpyr wltsyn lkwn wmsybryn 'nthwn hydyn yrb' thshbwkhthkwn lwth 'lh'
For what glory is it if, when you sin, you patiently endure beating? But if, when you do well, you patiently endure suffering, this is commendable with God.

ܠܗܕܐ ܓܝܪ ܐܬܩܪܝܬܘܢ ܕܐܦ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܡܝܬ ܚܠܦܝܢ ܘܫܒܩ ܠܢ ܗܢܐ ܛܘܦܣܐ ܕܐܢܬܘܢ ܒܥܩܒܬܗ ܬܗܠܟܘܢ
lhd' gyr 'thqrythwn d'p mshykh' myth khlpyn wshbq ln hn' Twps' d'nthwn beqbthh thhlkwn
For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving you an example, that you should follow his steps,

ܗܘ ܕܠܐ ܥܒܕ ܚܛܝܬܐ ܐܦܠܐ ܢܟܠܐ ܐܫܬܟܚ ܒܦܘܡܗ

who did not sin, “neither was deceit found in his mouth.”

ܗܘ ܕܡܨܛܚܐ ܗܘܐ ܘܠܐ ܡܨܚܐ ܘܚܐܫ ܗܘܐ ܘܠܐ ܡܬܠܚܡ ܐܠܐ ܡܫܠܡ ܗܘܐ ܕܝܢܗ ܠܕܝܢܐ ܕܟܐܢܘܬܐ
hw dmtsTkh' hw' wl' mtskh' wkh'sh hw' wl' mthlkhm 'l' mshlm hw' dynh ldyn' dk'nwth'
Who, when he was cursed, didn’t curse back. When he suffered, didn’t threaten, but committed himself to him who judges righteously.

ܘܫܩܠ ܚܛܗܝܢ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܘܐܣܩ ܐܢܘܢ ܒܦܓܪܗ ܠܨܠܝܒܐ ܕܟܕ ܡܝܬܝܢܢ ܠܚܛܝܬܐ ܒܙܕܝܩܘܬܐ ܕܝܠܗ ܢܚܐ ܒܫܘܡܬܗ ܓܝܪ ܐܬܐܣܝܬܘܢ
wshql khThyn klhwn w'sq 'nwn bpgrh ltslyb' dkd mythynn lkhTyth' bzdyqwth' dylh nkh' bshwmthh gyr 'th'sythwn
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness; by whose stripes you were healed.

ܕܛܥܝܢ ܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܥܪܒܐ ܘܐܬܦܢܝܬܘܢ ܗܫܐ ܠܘܬ ܪܥܝܐ ܘܣܥܘܪܐ ܕܢܦܫܬܟܘܢ
dTeyn hwythwn 'yk erb' w'thpnythwn hsh' lwth rey' wsewr' dnpshthkwn
For you were going astray like sheep; but now have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
